FAQ

When is the best time to book?

If you are booking a newborn session, it is best to contact me during your pregnancy as I can book up months in advance (it’s never too early). I will pencil in your due date, then once your baby has arrived we can finalise a time and date for your session. It is best to photograph your newborn during the first two weeks (6-12 days ideal).

Maternity sessions are best around the 34-37 week mark, but can be done at any stage.

Family sessions are welcome at any time and it’s best to book early if you have a specific date in mind. Weekend sessions are limited.

How long will the session last?

A session with a newborn will generally last between 2 - 4 hours. The session is never rushed and allows time for feeding and settling your baby as well as cuddles along the way.

A family and maternity session will generally be 1 to 2 hours depending on the location of the shoot and any elements we may encounter.

What should I/we wear and bring for the shoot?

I will provide guidance about what to wear for your sessions. For your newborn you don’t need to bring any particular outfits or props. I have a vast selection of wraps/blankets, hats and props that have been lovingly handmade and sourced from around the country (and overseas). For sibling and family images I find it best to be in neutral coloured clothing (I will provide more guidance for you when we work through your session information)

For family and maternity sessions, I also encourage neutral tones and clothing to keep it as natural as possible. For studio maternity sessions I also have a lot of materials that I use to enhance your gorgeous belly.

Do you come to my home?

No, I have a home based studio where everything is readily available for a comfortable and enjoyable session with your precious newborn. Maternity sessions can take place in the studio or on location. Family sessions are outdoors at a location chosen to suit your family.

Do you have much experience?

Yes, I’ve been photographing newborn babies since 2009. Newborn safety is a number one priority. I will never pose a baby in unsafe position. I will ask you to assist when necessary. All props used during the session are washed using washing powder suitable for sensitive baby skin. My whooping cough immunisation is up to date. As a mother of three children I realise it’s a big decision to entrust someone with your precious newborn.

I invest in my education (and continue to do this) with workshops and conferences focusing on the industry and newborns, including workshop talks from neonatal nurses, physio’s, midwives and other industry leaders from Australia and around the world.

How many pictures do you take?

I take a lot of images. However, you will be presented with approximately 20 final images for you to choose from. Images are individually and creatively edited by me.

Can I/my partner/other children be in the pictures?

Yes, absolutely I encourage it.

How long will it be before I can see the pictures?

The edited images will be available for viewing approximately three weeks after your session. You will receive an email advising how you can access your password protected online gallery.

How much is the session?

A Newborn session fee is $200
A family session fee is $150 (immediate family only, additional fees for more than one family)
Prints and collections are purchased separately. You can find some more information on my investment page.

When do I need to pay?

The session fee is due at the time of booking to secure your session. You are not required to choose your package up front, therefore I don’t ask for any further payment until you have viewed your gallery and chosen your package. You are, however, most welcome to pay small instalments along the way (many people like to do this in the lead up to the session – providing you with credit when you place your order)

What area do you service?

I have clients from various locations around South Australia including North Adelaide, Norwood, Henley Beach, Unley, Grange, Barossa Valley, Gawler, Largs Bay, Semaphore, West Lakes, Southern Adelaide, Victor Harbor and more. I’ve also had families from as far away as Victoria, NSW and NT. Obviously, you will need to travel to my home studio for a newborn session and family sessions are within the Adelaide metro area (I’m happy to travel further, however this will incur a travel fee)

Do you have vouchers available?

Yes I do they are a lovely gift particularly for baby showers. Workplaces, families and groups of friends love to make a collection and purchase a special voucher. I think it’s a fantastic gift. I do just ask that you check prices and ensure your friend would be happy with what I provide.

Where are you based?

My home studio is located 12km's north of the city in Mawson Lakes
