Plan your day
Know where the studio is. Mawson Lakes (shop 1, 16-18 Metro Parade), plan how long it will take to get here. Arrive early and make sure everyone is fed, dressed and ready in time for your designated time slot. Allow time if you need to dress them before.
PLEASE NOTE IF YOU ARE BOOKED FOR SUNDAY, 3RD NOVEMBER 2024…. there is an event on in Mawson Lakes and some roads will be closed. Please refer to your email and allow extra time.
Please be on time
Please ensure you arrive ready for your session 5-10minutes prior to your scheduled timeslot. I will ask that you wait outside my studio until we bring you in for your session. My studio is small families having their photograph taken will be distracted by others in the space (this just helps everything run smoothly for everyone). Should it be a hot day I will have an assistant take you to the back entrance of my studio to come inside and wait.
Your session is allocated for a 20 minute time slot
Christmas mini sessions are strictly 20 minute time slots. We have a lot of sessions booked back to back throughout each day, so to ensure a smooth day for everyone please ensure you arrive prior to your scheduled time slot and ready to go. We cannot go overtime if you are running late. If you are late, we will, of course, aim to do as much as we can with the available time that is left.
What to wear
Be comfortable with your choices. Choose a colour palette you love mainly with 2-3 colours and ensure your outfits compliment each other. Being a Christmas mini shoot the obvious choice is Christmas colours (ie red, green and bring them together with more neutral colours like denim, white or beige). Avoid big logos and pictures on clothing if possible.
The 2024 scene is a light/white scene (2023 was darker scene). This works perfect if you prefer the white/neutral tones but also looks great with some contrast and Christmas colours (there’s a few images on this page to show both). The add-on digital Santa image is lighter/whiter.
It is only a 20minute session so there isn’t really time for outfit changes, but if time permits we can do a quick change into matching Christmas PJ’s or similar if you wish.
What to bring
A Christmas book if your children have a favourite or their favourite Christmas toy. You can also bring Christmas accessories if you wish such as Santa hats, headbands etc. I will have a few things available for use on the day. There are plenty of options available in the shops already.
Your images
Approximately one week after your session your image gallery will be available for viewing and sent to you via email. This is where you will be able to download your five included digital files. With the option to purchase additional files and/or products. I will aim to take individual images of your children, siblings together (if applicable) and family photos (if applicable).
Add on Santa digital
We have the OPTION to ADD ON a Santa digital. This will need to be pre-purchased and is an additional fee to your included files (simply due to the fact these images require additional time and editing). These will be $25 and you will need to advise me prior to the session (and pay for) if you wish to have this one added. This will be photographed separately and edited as a composite image (details will be provided on how to do this prior to your mini session)
No mobiles
Please keep mobile phones away on the day mainly because they are a distraction to children and we have limited time. You don’t need to worry about taking photos as you will be receiving professional images included in your package and you can select your favourites.
Extra things to remember
Feed children prior to session if needed. For the day of mini sessions I will ask for no food in the studio. Please ensure you watch your children as there are lots of fun, shiny pretty objects and props around. We don’t want damaged items as we want the scene to look beautiful for all the families visiting. Remember to clean faces and remove any old nail polish etc prior to your session.
We generally try not to overwhelm young children when being photographed, so having everyone try to get their attention can overwhelm and upset them. Please allow me to engage with your children first and if needed I’ll ask you to help out to get a smile or help them relax. Remember they are mini sessions and it may not all be perfect but we are aiming to have fun, relaxed photos. Your child may not be perfect on the day but we take it as it comes and it is always best if we stay relaxed and aim for some fun.
Thank you once again for booking and I look forward to seeing you at the Christmas mini session.
